There is an ongoing need for progressive thinking in museums to find wider audiences. Our museums, our communities, and the world need to hear our voices, and what better place to encourage those voices than MCN? The conference is already a fertile ground for new ideas. But what about going forward?
What can we, the MCN community, do to support each other in getting our voices heard? The MCN Green Room will be a reading/writing/publishing incubator, connecting people with platforms and publishers, with the goal of stimulating and increasing the creative output of an energized, engaged MCN community. In this, it squarely addresses the conference theme of taking action. The space will function as a drop in zone to allow attendees to sample some of the latest work the community has produced. Watch MCN videos, listen to episodes of museum podcasts, and read what your peers are up to. We would also like to provide a space for multimedia producers to record interviews, so that it can be a generative place, where work is not only consumed or planned, but actually created.
We will provide a regular schedule of facilitators to help work on ideas for an existing blog or podcast–or start your own! The space will be a place to find collaborators, coauthors, editorial help, or just hang out. Representatives from AAM Labs, Museopunks, CODE|WORDS, have agreed to participate and we are actively soliciting more.
